Youth Weekend West - Victoria 2010
Registration

Full registration for Youth Weekend West includes lunch, housing, all classes including electives, dancing at the Ceilidh, and admittance to the Ball. Members of the public who wish to attend only the Ball and not the full weekend programme may purchase entrance for that evening.

To encourage youth, we must encourage families. To this end, YWW 2010 is open to dancers aged 12ish to 30ish. Friday's Ceilidh is open to parents/guardians and teachers of youth, and Saturday's Ball is open to the whole dance community. We will also offer a workshop for all ages on Friday afternoon, May 21, taught by Graham Donald.

SCD Class Levels

Please rate your class level on the following scale when you complete the registration form. If these levels don't describe your skills exactly, you can pick an "in-between" number, like 2¾ or 4.5.

Level 1:  I am a newcomer to Scottish country dancing, and have taken few or no previous classes.

Level 2:  I have had approximately one term of Scottish country dancing classes, and have learned the basic steps and simple dances, as well as basic formations like rights and lefts, hands across and allemande.

Level 3:  I have a good grasp of steps and basic formations, as well as familiarity with reels of three and four, poussettes and corner figures [e.g., set to and turn corners].

Level 4:  I am comfortable with steps, reels, corner figures, have attended some social dances and have had exposure to more advanced formations, including the knot and double triangles. I can dance most dances after one walk-through.

Level 5:  I can consistently execute all steps and formations to a very high standard of accuracy showing excellent phrasing, handing, and covering. I can do a new dance from any position in the set with only a talk-through.
